Elva "Nan" Lee Baechtel, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Born September 10, 1936 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Rice) Wiles. Nan graduated with the class of 1955 from Hagerstown High School. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Nan was always there for everyone and loved her family very much. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Baechtel, Jr; two daughters, Kimberly Snurr (Husband, Robert) and Renee Baechtel Jones; son, Randy Baechtel (wife, Susan); eight grandchildren, Tiffany Jones, Caitlin Baechtel, Timber Jones, Tyler Jones, Alethea Stupar (husband, Steve), Charles Baechtel III, Daniel Baechtel, and Erin Baechtel; six great grandchildren, Peyton, Aerianya, Emma, Lilyana, Raelynn, and Samuel. In addition to her parents, Nan was preceded in death by her son, Jason Baechtel; granddaughter, Paris Snurr; three brothers, Charles Wiles, Jack Wiles, and Dick Wiles. The graveside service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, with Pastor Jack Payne officiating, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
