Elsie Laverna Whitmore, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Friday, April 01, 2022, at her home. Born February 1, 1935, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late George Franklin and Jennie Irene (Weddle) King. Elsie was a member of the Amvets and the VFW in Arkansas. She is survived by one daughter, Sheri Schaeffer, and husband, Chris; two sons, Delbert (Lynn) Nicewarner, and wife, Sonsee and Richard (Dwayne) Nicewarner; three sisters, Lois McAllister, Viola Smith, and Terisa Borum; two brothers, Harold King and Charles King; 23 grandchildren; 48 great granchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert Nicewarner and her second husband, Roger Owen Whitmore; two daughters, Sue Wolfe and Debbie Myers; two sons, Dean Whitmore and Roger Whitmore, Jr.; two brothers, Melvin King and George "Bub" King; and one great granddaughter, Alexia. Services will be 11am Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor J. Paul Reno will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the funeral home.
