ELLSWORTH CECIL JENKINS (EJ). EJ, age 79, was admitted to Washington County Hospital for gallbladder surgery August 8, and died September 13. EJ is predeceased by his father, Cecil William Jenkins, mother Florida Myrtle Monroe, stepmother Cora Lynn Jenkins, sisters Mary Catherine Jenkins and Nancy Smith, and brother Wayne Monroe. EJ married Peggy L. J. Bolton in Laurel on June 16, 1956. The couple is originally from the Beltsville/Laurel area, but resided in Braddock Heights, Clear Spring, and currently Hagerstown. EJ is survived by wife, Peggy, children, Brian, Steven, and Sharon; son-in-law Walter Stevens, and Brian's fiance Joanne; grandchildren Christina, Stephanie, Chad, and Steven, Jr.; great-grandson, Connor; sister Judith Malakatis and husband George in N.C.; brothers Thomas Jenkins and wife Marie in FL, French Monroe and Bonnie in AZ; brother-in-law Robert Bolton in Laurel; and cousins; nieces and nephews. EJ enlisted in Maryland National Guard 1948, rising to the rate of SGT Battery C, 224th Field Artillery Battalion and received citations: expert carbine and cannoneer. He was honorable discharged 1957. He was employed many years at Chevy Chase Chevrolet in Bethesda, then at Shockley Honda in Frederick. Visitation will be September 16 from 6 to 8 p. m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Graveside service will be September 17 at 3:00 p. m. at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church cemetery on Route 216, Scaggsville, Maryland.
