Elizabeth "Libby" Swain, daughter of the late Alma Hollar, passed away in her loving husbands arms on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, David G. Swain; sisters, Jacqueline and husband George of Hagerstown, MD; Alma Kline of Hagerstown, MD; Gloria McCormac of Sacramento, CA; Patricia Jordan of Hagerstown, MD, brother-n-law and sister-n-law, Kelly and Teresa Swain of Hagerstown, MD; Larry and Susan Burton, brother and sister-n-law of Arkansas; Judy Hunt, sister-n-law of South Carolina and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and countless friends. Libby was preceded in death by three brother-n-laws, James Kline, Chuck McCormac and Richard Jordan. Libby was a 1971 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. She was a caregiver for 38 years and provided help to anyone who needed it. Libby was a life member of the Western Enterprise Fire Hall and served in the past as the Ladies Auxiliary President, Secretary and Treasurer. She was a life member of the Harley Owners Group and Local Chambersburg Chapter 4222. Libby was a twenty-seven-year volunteer with the JFK 50-mile ultra-marathon. She lived life to the fullest. Libby and David travelled all over 48 states and 7 Canadian Providences on their Harley. She loved going to Professional Bull Riding events and especially the PBR Championship in Las Vegas. Libby was an expert at cross stitch and enjoyed giving her art work as gifts. The only thing Libby loved more than David, her Harley or her bulls was her veterans. She was proud to be a veterans spouse and was anticipating the placement and dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at City Park. Libby never met anyone without a smile and a hug and she will be sorely missed by everyone. A funeral service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. Bill Kleckner will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm, Friday, February 8, 2019 at the funeral home.
