EDWARD ANTHONY ASHKETTLE, SR., 64, of 1404 Salem Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Meritus Medical Center. Born February 5, 1947 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late James E. and Eleanor Virginia Bowman Ashkettle. He was employed with Antietam Glass Company. He loved to be with his family and was a loving grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to fish, watch all sports and he was a big sports fan. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Ruth Ashkettle; one son, Jason Ashkettle and wife, Heather of Hagerstown; two daughters, Jessica Ashkettle and Pamela Ashkettle both of Hagerstown; step-daughter, Michelle Gordon of Marlowe, WV; one sister, Bonnie Barnhart and husband, Ronald of Hagerstown; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Edward A. Ashkettle, Jr. and two sisters, Theresa Clark and Sandra Bowers. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
