Earmon Lee Shifflett, Jr., 87, of Hagerstown, MD, entered the Kingdom of Heaven, Monday, December 11, 2023. Born February 16, 1936 in Washington, D.C., he was the loving husband, father, breadwinner, and dedicated disciple in his faith. He was the son of the late Earmon Lee Shifflett, Sr. and Era Elizabeth (Vines) Shifflett.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Connie Mae (Brewer) Shifflett.
Earmon was a 1954 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army, active and inactive, from 1958 to 1964. He was a Boy Scout Master. He was also part of Full Gospel Businessmen, Campus Life, Church Consistory, Christian Ed, Evangelism, and Sunday School Teacher. He retired from Mack Truck and the Bon Ton. In 2020, he received a plaque in recognition of Faithful Service as an Elder of the Congregation for the first time in church history, with the title of Elder Emeritus.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Lee Shifflett and (Aletta/Smiley); daughter, Debra Kay (Shifflett) Hansen (Dwight); seven grandchildren, Nicole Shifflett (John), Adam Shifflett (Niki), Eric Johns (Hollie), April Hennessey (Sean), Ashley Ritchie (Johnathan), Nikki Boyd (Zach) and Shelley Jones; Ten great grandchildren, Cienna, Camden, Emmy, Caspian, Eli, Malina, Zoe, Zander, Halie, and Paislie; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Marie Elizabeth (Shifflett) Punt; brother, Charles Bernard Shifflett; and daughter-in-law, Karen Diane (Hayes) Shifflett.
The funeral will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Salem Reformed Church, 13182 Salem Church Rd, Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Eric Cox will officiate. The burial will follow at Salem Reformed Church Cemetery.
There will be a viewing at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 6 to 8pm.
