Born April 14, 1943 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Wagner, Sr. and E. Louise (Snyder) Wagner. After retirement, Joy served as a substitute teacher for 15 years in Washington County. She was a lifetime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church (formerly St. Pauls E. U. B.), where she spent many years teaching Childrens Sunday School classes. She was also a member of the Chancel Choir for over 40 years, the Hallelujah Handbell Choir, the Crossroads SS class, the Otterbein Seniors, the United Methodist Womens Group, and participated in many other church activities. Joys greeting card legacy will be greatly missed. Joy travelled extensively through Europe and was a proud and avid Duck Pin Bowler for many years. She is survived by two brothers, David G. Wagner, of Hagerstown, and Daniel L. Wagner, Sr., and wife, Mary, of Austin, PA; one sister, B. Diane Sharpe, of Hagerstown; 6 nieces and 3 nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and cousins. She will be missed by the loving Lushbaugh family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John R. Wagner, Jr.; a nephew, Robert F. Sharpe; and many aunts and uncles. A memorial service at Otterbein United Methodist Church, celebrating Joys life, will be held at a later date. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Elizabeth Jackson will officiate. The family would like to thank the John R. Marsh Cancer Center at Robinwood, Dr. Michael McCormacks office; Twin Oaks Assisted Living at Williamsport, Hospice of Washington County, and everyone who provided Joy with such wonderful care during her illness.
