Dr. Mark Ford Sullivan, Sr., 72, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at his home.

Born November 5, 1953, in New York, NY, he was the son of the late James Sullivan and Miriam Robinson Sullivan Messner.

Mark devoted over 40 years to serving several communities as a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon. Throughout his career, he was deeply committed to the care of his patients and to his colleagues. He was a member of Fountain Head Country Club, the UVA Alumni Association, and the Georgetown Alumni Association.

Mark was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and physician. He will be lovingly remembered for his strong character, compassion, and unwavering devotion to his family, his patients, and his colleagues. He will be remembered by many whose lives he touched and inspired.

He is survived by his loving wife, M. Rosario “Rosarito” Sullivan; his sons, Mark F. Sullivan, Jr., and wife, Elixabeth, and Sean F. Sullivan and wife, Margaret; and his six grandchildren, Catherine, James, Thomas, Nora, Oliver, and Owen.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8pm on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. James Boric will be celebrant.

A graveside service will be held at 11:15am on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Ivy Hill Cemetery, 2823 King Street, Alexandria, VA.
