Douglas Alden Stone, 72, of Funkstown, MD, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Born June 3, 1951 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late James and Margaret (Byer) Stone.

He was a 1969 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. He graduated from VCU in 1973 with a Fine Arts Degree and Frostburg University in 1981 with an MBA. He was the President of UAW Local 842 at Pangborn and a Paraprofessional at Antietam Academy.

Douglas loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He fondly referred to himself as the "Prince of Funkstown". He was the Chairman of Planning and Zoning since 1984 and he was a master gardener.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Stephanie (Miller) Stone; son, Ben Stone (wife, Lily); son, David Stone (wife, Sarah) and his granddaughters, Sasha and Josephine; two brothers, Robert Stone and James Stone (wife, Colleen); nephew, Jake Stone (wife, Vanessa) and their five children; father-in-law, Ronald L. Miller, Sr (wife, Bonnie); brother-in-law, Ronald Miller, Jr. (wife, Jennifer) and their daughter, Katie Miller.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 6 to 8pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
