Dorothy Virginia Mentzer, 104, passed away peacefully on June 26th in her home at Quincy Village Assisted Living. Dorothy was born on March 6, 1918, in Morgan County, West Virginia to Preston and Goldie (Wallick) Crouse. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenton Charles Mentzer and daughter, Barbara Ellen Flood. She is survived by her son, Michael (Joann) Loy Mentzer of Hagerstown, two granddaughters, Debora (Terry) Sue Hunter of St. Augustine, FL., and Theresa Diane Keefer of Colorado, 2 great grandchildren, Lauren (Jesse) Elizabeth Mobley of Jacksonville, FL and Timothy Brian Knerr of Tampa, FL. Dorothy had a lengthy career in the retail business in Hagerstown. She was employed by Leiter Brothers for 16 years and Rosen's for 27 years in downtown Hagerstown. Dorothy was a member of First Christian Church in Hagerstown since 1938. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Dr. David Britt will officiate. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
