DOROTHY ANN JONES, 77, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at Meritus Medical Center. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, AKA "Grand Dotty". Born July 31, 1937 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Hostetter and William Alfred Hopkin, Jr. Dotty's employment included First National Bank of MD, Dual Highway Branch, Secretary for Dr. Eric Smith, Administrative Assistant at Fairchild Industries, retiring from Rohr Industries in 1996. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lady of Elks Lodge 378, North American Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary, and American Legion Morris Frock Post 42 Auxiliary. Dotty was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Hopkins. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, David Forbes Jones; one daughter, Lisa Thurston and husband Barry of Newark, Delaware; two sons, Jeffrey D. Jones, M.D. and wife Patti of Hagerstown, MD, Kurt Jones and wife Christine of Urbana, MD; one brother, William Alfred Hopkins, III; four granddaughters, Maria Jones, Courtney Jones, Stephanie Miller and husband Jason, Captain USMC, and Brittany Emery and husband Alex, 1st Lt. USMC; three grandsons, Patrick Jones, William Jones, and Kyle Jones. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. Rev. Collin Poston will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, October 10, 2014 from 2pm to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Dotty.
