Obituary

Dorothy Marie DeLauter, 89, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center. Born April 20, 1928 in Chewsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Max and Mary (Johnston) Rohrer. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald L. DeLauter, on June 4, 2005. She worked at Water View Motel for 10 years. She was a member of Tops Club Chapter 77 for 18 years, and First Christian Church for 52 years. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Ronald DeLauter and wife, Shirley, and Roger DeLauter and wife, Cindy; one sister, Hilda Shoop; one granddaughter, Danielle Ruble and husband, Justin; three grandsons, Ron Lynn DeLauter and wife, Colleen, Thad DeLauter and wife, Frannie, and Kevin DeLauter and wife, Katie; three great grandsons, Chance and Blake DeLauter, and Ashton Ruble; three step-grandchildren, Chad, Brett, and Alexis; and sister-in-law, Betty Nigh DeLauter. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by two sisters, Louella Patsy Ridenour and Pauline Price; and three brothers, Walter "Doggie" Rohrer, Donald Rohrer and Samuel "Huck" Rohrer. Services will be held 11am Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Richard A. Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6 to 8pm. Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740; or Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
