Doris Marie Smith, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, was escorted by angels to her heavenly resting place from Doeys House on November 13, 2020. Doris was born and raised in Hagerstown, MD. She was an avid Christian who loved the Lord and enjoyed singing his praises. She was a member of the Valley Assembly of God in Hagerstown. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be missed by all who knew her and remembered for her famous homemade fudge. Doris was a kind and gentle person and spent most of her adult life caring for others. She was a caregiver for all of her family during their illnesses and care for many children whose parents worked. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence C. and Grace Elizabeth (Metz) Domer; her husband, Roger Smith; her sisters, Hilda Trumpower and Frances Peters; and her brother, Sidney Lee Domer. She is survived by a foster brother, John Negley, and two nephews, Randy and Brian Domer. Doris also had numerous stepchildren and grandchildren, whom she enjoyed. The funeral service will be held 12pm on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd.,Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Robert Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Bakersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Washington County or to Doey's House, Hagerstown Maryland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Masks and social distancing are required.
