DORIS KATHLEEN (ELRICK) MATHEWS, 89, of Williamsport, MD, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Homewood Retirement Center. Born March 4, 1925, in Forest Hills, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Edwin and Verda (Oates) Elrick. Doris was a graduate of Bayard High School, and West Virginia University. She was employed with the Federal Trade Commission, and then spent most of her career with Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in WV as a technical writer and later as Supervisor of Graphic Arts. She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Williamsport, MD. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Charles David Mathews in 2000. She is survived by stepson, Charles D. Mathews, Jr and wife Helen of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Jean (Elrick) DiGiustino of Mount Storm, WV; two step granddaughters and loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doris was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Edward Elrick, and twin brother, John (Jack) Elrick. Services will be held 1pm Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. Mark A. Sandell will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, in Hagerstown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Drive, Williamsport, MD 21795, or to a charity of your choice.
