Obituary

Donna Marie (Kiracofe) DeLauney, age 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 11:00am.

Donna was born July 1, 1926 in Hagerstown. She was the eldest child of the late James D. Stroh and Helen V. (Snook) Kiracofe.

She was a granddaughter of the late James H. and Lillie V (Stroh) Kiracofe, and the late Harry C. and Julia R. Snook.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Jean Kiracofe; brother, James Huck Kiracofe; her brother-in-law, Harold "Hal" Pettit; along with her husband of 65 years, Henry F. DeLauney, former Deputy Chief and Arson Investigator for the City of Hagerstown Fire Dept. Henry was the son of the late Theodore and Miriam Bella (Adams) DeLauney of Sharpsburg, MD.

Donna has another living sister, Rietta Kiracofe Pettit, in Tuscaloosa, AL. Donna and Hank's children include Carole DeLauney Disharoon, husband, Dick, and daughters, Kerry Mueller and husband, Werner, and Sherry Disharoon; Martha DeLauney Miller and husband, Dudley, Jeff DeLauney and wife, Linda; granddaughters, Megan Miller Prince and husband, John, Taryn DeLauney Wivell, husband, Kyle. Donna also has 2 beloved great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Beau Wivell.

After graduation from Hagerstown High School, class of 1944, Donna accepted a position as an IBM Operator at Fairchild. After the births of her children, she accepted a position in the Computer Department at Mack Truck, retiring in 1979.

Born in her paternal grandparents' home on West Side Avenue in 1926, she and Henry purchased this home in 1962, raising their 3 children and assisted with their 2 granddaughters, Megan and Taryn.

Donna was a "Golden Member" of Grace United Methodist Church since 1939. Her paternal grandparents were among the 45 charter members of the original Grace Church in 1865. Donna maintained her back yard as a living memorial to all who previously shared their "homeplace". She was a crossword enthusiast and loved playing cards with friends and family. She babysat for her beloved granddaughters as they grew from infancy until their early school years, keeping her camera close by to capture their growth.

She loved to hunt with her father, Jim, her brother, "Huck", her Uncle Earl Wilson, and her husband, "Hank" from the age of 17.

The funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
