Donald Clifford
Sneckenberger
Jul 29, 1935 — Feb 22, 2025
On February 22, 2025, God Called Don home at age of 89 to join his Lord and Family already in Heaven.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Sneckenberger; two brothers, Richard Sneckenberger and Kenneth Sneckenberger; his sister, Dottie Hendershot and her husband, Warren; his brother-in-law, Robert Mason; and his daughter-in-law, Janet Sneckenberger.
He is survived by two sisters, Carol (Mason) Grove and her husband, Gary, and Bonnie Harne and her husband, Jim, and his sister-in-law, Buelah Sneckenberger.
He has two sons, Doy and Jody, and a daughter-in-law, Brenda. Don has two Granddaughters that he was very proud of, Jodi Lee Blickenderfer and her husband, Luke Blickenderfer, and their three children, Elijah, Elizabeth, and Natalee, and Megan Shank and her husband, Josh Shank. Don shared a special bond with Hope and Richard Oates who are Janet's Parents. Donnie was also blessed with many Brothers and Sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and a very large extended family.
Don was very proud of his Family and their History in the local community. Many Sundays were spent relaxing and talking with Family around the "Old Home Place" or one of his Sister's homes. He always looked forward to family picnics and reunions.
Don held Private and Commercial Pilot flight certificates since 1969. One of his greatest joys was flying his sons to the Hershey Airstrip, then spending the day at Hershey Park before flying home.
Don served in the Army 2ND MSL BTN 71st ARTILLERY (Taiwan) during the Taiwan crisis 823 Campaign 1958-1959 when Formosa split off from China to form the Republic of China. He was awarded the 'Taiwan Veterans Badge of Honor' and the "US Expeditionary Medal" for his service there.
After his time in the Army Don came home and was self employed, building many beautiful homes. Later he worked for Hagerstown Block Company as the Ready-Mix Manager and then as Vice President. He retired from Hagerstown Block but still held a position on the Board of Directors and was active in the management of the Company. Don was also a Charter Member of the Washington County Home Builders Association.
Don enjoyed singing Southern Gospel Music during his life. He started in his home church, then with a family quartet. Next he traveled with the Heaven Heirs for a few years then formed the Morning Star Singers. "Donnie" managed and traveled regularly with the Morning Star Singers for over 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania Southern Gospel Association. The Morning Star Singers were active members of the Angel Bus Association, having participated in a compassionate patient move from Lincoln, Nebraska to John Hopkins.
Today Don is Home, singing with a New Group of Family and Friends that were waiting in Heaven for his arrival. We all miss him but are confident we will see him again when we join him in Heaven.
The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 1, 2025, with Pastor Ron Shank officiating, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
