Donald Eugene Olden, Sr., 87, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Sterling Care South Mountain.

Born February 26, 1936, in Gapland, MD, he was the son of the late Clarence William Olden, Sr. and Pauline Eugenia (Smith) Olden.

Donald was a mechanic for Alban. He was owner/operator of Olden Excavating from 1966-1978. He had been a truck driver for EV Moser, Hahn Transportation, and D.M. Bowman. He enjoyed farming and he loved raising his horses and cows.

Donald is survived by his wife, Bertha "Putts" (Huntzberry) Olden; his sons, Donald Eugene Olden, Jr. and wife, Wanda, Douglas Wayne Olden, Daryl Lynn Olden and wife, Sherry, and Darren Scott Olden and wife, Lori; 11 grandchildren, Dwayne, Danielle, Dustin, Desiree, Destinee, Dana, Devin, Drew, Donovan, Shane, and Scott; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Lisa Olden; sister, Lorraine Taylor; and brother, Clarence Olden, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Boonsboro Cemetery, 64 S Main St, Boonsboro, MD. Pastor Jack Payne will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 6-8pm.
