Donald "Donnie" William Rice, 71, of Clear Spring, MD, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center. Born November 12, 1945 in Washington County, MD, he was the son of the late Anita Virginia Rice and William Daniel "Bill" Rice. Donnie was a member of First Christian Church. He was the pit gate keeper at the Hagerstown Speedway for many, many, many years. His nick name at the speedway was "Pork Chop". He enjoyed fishing and boating at the lake. He worked at the Goodwill in his younger years. He is survived by two sisters, Connie J. Proctor and husband, Pete, of Clear Spring, and Bonnie L. Carbaugh and husband, Dicky, of Hagerstown; one brother, Ronnie G. Rice of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny R. Rice. Services will be held 1pm Monday, May 1, 2017 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. Don Conley will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9pm on Sunday, April 30, 2017.
