Obituary

Donald Eugene Baker Sr., known as Donnie, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, in Hagerstown, MD surrounded by his family. Born on February 1, 1953, in Grantsville, MD, to the late Elva Grace (Ross) Baker and Calvin Elmer Baker.

For over three decades, Donnie dedicated his professional life to Callas Contractors. Where his work ethic, dedication, and camaraderie with his colleagues were well known. His commitment to his job was only surpassed by his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need, a trait that endeared him to many.

Donnie's wit was as timeless as the tunes he cherished. His humor was a gift he freely gave, brightening the lives of those around him. Music and classic cars were among Donnie's greatest passions. He could often be found humming a tune or sharing stories about the cars of yesteryear. His love for these interests was infectious, and he enjoyed nothing more than sharing them with his friends and family.

He is survived by his loving family who will miss him dearly. Wife, Ruth Sisler Baker, and his children, Charlie Eichelberger, Chey Hollingsworth, Vaun Hollingsworth (Daughter in law), Michael Ruddick, Pamela Griffith, Rusty Brawner, and Casey Brawner (Daughter in law). Grandchildren: CJ Baker, Brayden Ruddick, Brendan Ruddick, Ashlyn Brawner, Bryson Brawner, Hayleigh Brawner, Cherub Brechbill, Evan Sherman, and Baylee Sherman, as well as his great-grandchildren, Wrenley Kauffman, Vivian Lamance, and Adrein Lamance, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Donnie is also survived by his brother Wayne Baker Sr. and sister-in-law Carrie Baker, as well as his sister Gina Stine and several nieces and nephews. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Donnie was preceded in death by his sons, Donald Baker Jr. and Curtis Baker, his brothers, Roy Baker and Robert Baker, and his sister, Gloria Liller.

Words like kind, loving, and funny only scratch the surface of who Donnie was. He had a heart as big as his sense of humor and his legacy is one of joy, laughter, and an unshakeable spirit of generosity. As we say goodbye to Donnie, we remember a man who could turn a wrench and a phrase with equal skill.

So, as we bid farewell to our husband, father, grandfather, and friend let's honor him by living as he did—with kindness, a helping hand, and a joke ready for anyone who needs it. Rest in peace, Donnie.
