On Friday, August 7th, 2026, Delinda "Linda" Lee Benner, age 82, made her final journey home to heaven with her granddaughter, Meghan by her side. She was cared for and loved at her home in her last months here by her granddaughter, Meghan Benner and her partner, Nikki Marshall.

She was born March 24th, 1944 to the late Florene Henson and Lewis Colbert in Washington County, MD, where she remained to raise her own family. She worked many years as a waitress at the Woodpoint Bar and Grill, and later as a newspaper carrier. She finally found her most enjoyable dream job as a nanny to two beautiful girls who became forever friends with Linda.

She was a member of Valley Assembly of God Church and enjoyed spending time with her church family when she was able. She was saved and baptized to ensure her eternity in heaven with her heavenly Father.

She found happiness in the simple things in life. The challenge of a good crossword puzzle, gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She loved keeping her front porch decorated for all of those in the neighborhood, the passerby, and her family to enjoy-especially during the holiday seasons.

Her best days were filled spending time with her children and grandkids. She enjoyed Christmas the most when she could shower her grandkids with gifts. She enjoyed many trips to Ocean City, even one day trips to the beach were always an option if it meant spending time on the sand with the kids and grandkids.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Norman "Eddie" Benner, her brother, Carl "David" Dean, and her oldest child, Anthony "Tony" Benner.

She is survived by her daughters, Norma Benner (Randy Snodderly) and Melinda Lewis (Brian Lewis), and her son, Dwayne Benner. In addition, she is survived by many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also blessed to have a life long friend in Loretta Golden Long.

Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 11:00am at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 South Potomac Street in Hagerstown.
