Dawn Marie Messersmith, a beacon of kindness and joy, graced the world with her presence on July 29, 1976, in Hagerstown, MD, and left it a better place when she passed away in the same loving community on November 12, 2024. Known affectionately as Dawn, she lived a life that was a testament to the power of selflessness and compassion.

Dawn's love knew no bounds, extending to her cherished family: her supportive mother, Cindi Messersmith; adoring daughter, Akira Dawn Berry; and her brother, Matthew, who along with the rest of her family; her niece, Talayla Marie; her aunts, Tammy Jo, Tina, and Angela; her Godfather, Fred Morrison; and her step father, William Taylor felt the warmth of her ceaseless love. She was the caregiver not just to her family but to everyone she met, embodying the essence of a loving, friendly, and selfless soul.

While her grandfather, William "Pappy" Messersmith, and aunt, Arlene Sirbaugh, preceded her in death, Dawn's legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Dawn's life was a beautiful reminder that we each have the capacity to make the world brighter, simply by being ourselves.

Her zest for life was infectious; Dawn was a stylish diva, never without her accessories when arriving, who effortlessly became the life of the room. Her dedication to service shown brightly through her volunteer work where she touched countless lives with her generosity and care.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 11am to 12pm, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. At 12:30pm, the graveside service will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery with Lynn Davidson-Grace officiating.
