DAVID McKINLEY KNODE, 89, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his home. Born July 17, 1927, in Sharpsburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late John Vinton and Eva Agnes Bender Knode. David served in World War II and Korean War with the U. S. Army earning several medals including the Purple Heart. He was a member of Calvary Grace Brethren Church. He was member of AMVEST Post 10. David is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Dorian Knode, whom he married on January 11, 1957; two sons, David Knode and wife, Joan of Hagerstown and Ricky Knode and wife Cynthia of Wake Forest, NC; one daughter, Jodi Decker and husband, Jeff of Waynesboro, PA; son-in-law, Jimmy White of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Decker, Jr., Amy Hess, Austin Knode, Dylan Knode, Lexi Knode, Erica Knode and Haylee White; four great grandchildren, Garrett, Bensen and Brody Decker and Ella Presgraves and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Candee White; he was the last of his generation and was preceded by his sisters, Mildred Remsburg, Anna Sperow, Martha Knode, Dorothy Williams and Agnes Johnston; brothers, William, Vinton, Ellis, Rolland, Walter and Robert Knode. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery by Joint Veterans Council and Marien Corp. League of Hagerstown. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to send a special thank you to Hospice nurses Ruth and Mary.
