DAVID CHRISTIAN BLENARD, 98, of 15 Plum Tree Lane, Williamsport, Maryland, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at the V. A. Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Born September 27, 1906 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Daniel S. and Emma J. Smith Blenard. He was preceded in death by his wife, B. Carolyn Blenard on December 31, 1984. He graduated from Surrey School in 1926, the University of Maryland in 1932, and the National Law School in Washington, D. C. (now George Washington University) in 1935. He was a veteran of World War II, and served in the Judge Advocate's Department during most of his four years of Army service. In 1946, he was appointed Special Agent, Intelligence Unit in the U. S. Treasury Department. He retired from Government Service in 1955 and became involved in property management in Washington, D. C. and in Baltimore, Maryland, in semi retirement. He was an employee of The Reconstruction Finance Corporation in Washington, D. C. during the depression years. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, Maryland. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, the Alumni Association of The University of Maryland, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He is survived by one great-nephew, Jason Powell of Clear Spring, Maryland, two great-nieces, Dana Powell of Richmond, Virginia, and Wendy Fraker of Williamsport, Maryland; and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Naomi B. Powell; one brother, William S. Blenard; and a nephew, Daniel B. Powell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. David B. Kaplan and Rev. Thomas Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1 to 9 p. m. Please omit flowers.
