Darren "DJ" Reeder, Jr., 33, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, September 14, 2014, in Hagerstown, as the result of a motorcycle accident. DJ was born September 13, 1981, in Hagerstown and is the son of Julia Hellane and Darren Reeder, Sr. He attended local schools and earned his GED in 1998. He was employed by Quad Graphics in Martinsburg, WV. DJ is survived by his mother, Julia Hellane (Dave Mikolajski); father, Darren Reeder, Sr. (Robyn Powell); grandmother, Nancy Larimore Hellane; brothers, Greg Pheabus of Myrtle Beach, SC; Andrew Pheabus, Hagerstown; uncle, Tim Hellane, Hagerstown; aunts, Pat Hellane and Tina Dangler of Greencastle, PA; Julia Garrott, Williamsport, and Frances Larimore, Edgemont; cousins Laurel Hellane, Greencastle; Justin Breeden, Martinsburg, and Portia McClean of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vince Hellane, Sr.; grandmother, Shirley Stine; uncles, Vince Hellane, Jr., Curtis Dangler and Randy Watkins. DJ loved to ride his Harley Davidson and had a talent for cooking. DJ was a many faceted human being, and if you looked beyond the tough exterior you would see a young man that carried a soft spot for children, animals and a friend that was in need of a helping hand. DJ wished for the world to be a better place and his passing should serve as a reminder that life is but a blink of an eye and we must never forget to love one another and thank God daily for loving us unconditionally. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Minnich Funeral Home and burial is at the convenience of the family.. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 22, 2014, at Hub City Vineyard, 11000 Bower Avenue, corner of Virginia and Bower Avenues, Hagerstown, at 7:00 PM.
