Darlene Elizabeth Violet, 72, of Keedysville, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

Born April 30, 1954, in Washington County, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Elmer and Rosealie LaRue (Flook) Kline.

Darlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Wayne Violet, who passed away on September 2, 2019.

A 1972 graduate of Boonsboro High School, Darlene devoted her life to her family as a loving wife and mother. She was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, always enjoying the opportunity to make others laugh.

Darlene had a remarkable talent for hand quilting, eventually earning recognition as a Master Hand Quilter. She possessed the rare ability to transform a simple pieced quilt top into a beautiful work of art. Her craftsmanship helped preserve countless family heirlooms, as many treasured quilts throughout the country bear the intricate hand quilting she lovingly completed. Several of her own quilts received the Viewer's Choice Award at the Mason-Dixon Quilt Shows. She was a proud member of the Friendship Quilters Guild in Hagerstown.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Elmer Violet, and his foster daughter, Leah. Darlene was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Jack Payne, Jr. will officiate.

Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Locust Grove.
