Darla Joy Forbes, 66, of Hagerstown, passed away, Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Meritus Medical Center. Born March 7, 1955, in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Mabel Otilla (Hoffman) Forbes. Darla received her education from Baptist Bible College of PA, and worked at "The Word Among Us" in Frederick from 1997 to the present. She loved to read, loved cats and actively worked with Cat Rescues. She attended Maranatha Brethren Church where she was involved with the Shoe Box Ministry and sang in the cantatas. Darla is survived by nieces, Jackalyn Forbes and Kathryn Forbes; nephews, Dale R. Forbes (Tina), Brian Forbes (Brenda), Danny Forbes (Shelly), Kevin Bemis (Patti), Norman Bemis (Sue), Gerald Forbes, Jr., and Dennis Forbes; half sister-in-law, Doris Forbes; and dozens of close friends from church and work. She was preceded in death by half-sister, Gladys Forbes Bemis, and husband, Clarence, and two half-brothers, Gerald L. and Milton Forbes. A memorial service will be held 11am Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Maranatha Brethren Church, 19835 Scott Hill Drive, Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Dan Thornton will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a Cat Rescue of your choice.
