Daniel Frederick Smith, 81, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Friday evening, July 18, 2025, at Doey's House.

Born September 4, 1943, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Victor and Corena Rae (Gasket) Smith.

Daniel was a veteran of the U. S. Army and retired from Heidler Roofing. He also worked as a Sales Executive with Miller and Anderson and Danzer Metal Works. He was formerly employed as a Police Officer by the Williamsport Police Department.

Daniel was a musician, playing bass guitar with the Planeteers and the Country Fugitives.

He is survived by his wife, Nicole E. Smith; son, Daniel N. Smith, and his girlfriend, Mary Nave; two grandchildren, Corena and Kaycie Smith; and nephews, Ronnie Smith and wife, Julie, and Patrick Alan Smith.

Daniel was preceded in death by four sisters, Patricia Racut, Eunice Breth, Carlene Varis, and Bernice Riggs; and five brothers, Patrick Smith, David Smith, Elry McCray, Victor Smith, and John Smith.

Funeral services will be 1 pm Monday, July 28, 2025, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD 21740, with Pastor Roger Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 2-4pm.
