DANIEL ELLSWORTH MOWEN, III, 69 of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away Thursday November 9, 2017 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. Born November 11, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Daniel E. Mowen, Jr. and Nellie F. Welty Mowen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl. Daniel was a graduate of South Hagerstown High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam ERA. Daniel retired from P.S.I after thirty years of service. He enjoyed model railroads and model cars. He is survived by his son, Rodney Mowen and wife, Crystal; grandson, Caleb Mowen; fianc, Laura Keefer; cousin and lifelong friend, Jerry Slonaker and significant other, Sharon Robinson, and his children, John and Christy and their families; first cousins, Donald Mowen, Jr., Beverly Mowen, Cathy Slone, Harry Mowen, Harriet Pryor, Daphne Stewart, Dwayne Detrow, Constance Thomas, William Kaplan, and Suzanne Schleeper and their families; aunts, Sarah Dixon and her husband, Howell and Ruth Detrow. The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. on Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown. Pastor Bill Divelbiss will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to help defray funeral expenses c/o Minnich Funeral Home.
