Obituary

Dale Donald Bannon, Sr., 75, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026, at his home.  Born October 2, 1950 in College Park, MD, he was the son of the late Chester Dorman Bannon, Sr. and Leora Elizabeth (Lawley) Bannon.

Dale graduated from Frederick High School in 1968. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his bravery and dedication, he was awarded the Bronze Star.

A skilled carpenter by trade, Dale dedicated 50 years to his craft and was a proud member of D.C. Carpenter's Union 1590. He was an avid baseball and football fan, as well as a passionate collector who enjoyed following his favorite teams and preserving treasured memorabilia.

Above all, Dale's life was grounded in his deep faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the loving arms of his Savior.

Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Cherie Alice Bannon; his five children, Me chell Babylon and her husband, Michael, Tammie Campher and her husband, Maylon, Nicole Mauri and her husband, Christopher, Dale Bannon, Jr. and his wife, Carol, and Christopher Bannon and his wife, Shannon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Pat Harris and Peggy Boyer and her husband, Bill; his brother, Chester Bannon, Jr.; and his sister-in-law, Marsha Bannon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Bannon.

A viewing will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 4:00-6:00pm.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD. CSM Larry Miller will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
