CYRIL GORDON WHITESIDES, 87, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro, Maryland. Born August 17, 1925 in Moline, Illinois, he was the son of the late Cyril J. and Eva A. Gordon Whitesides. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Jean Whitesides. Cyril was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Hagerstown Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where he was a deacon of the church. He retired in 1989 from the Review & Herald Publishing Association. Cyril loved to golf and work on cars. He is survived by four daughters, Christine Mackey and husband, Paul of Hagerstown, Maryland, Vivien Jenkin and husband, Gerald of Bremerton, Washington, Jeanne Bursott of Clinton, Iowa and Sharon Charnoski and husband, Gary of Clinton Iowa; two sons, Cyril Whitesides, Jr. and wife, Linda of Jefferson, Pennsylvania and Steven Whitesides and wife, Anita of Hagerstown, Maryland; one sister, Beverly Vickroy of Sherrard, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Whitesides. Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
