CURTIS "BUD" LEROY CONWAY, SR., 91, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Meritus Medical Center. Born Sept. 17, 1922, in North East, MD, he was the son of the late Frank Bennett and Rachael D. Reed Conway. Curtis was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army with the Company A, 817 Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was in 4 of the 5 major battles of WWII, including Battle of the Bulge. Curtis was a member of the North East Fire Department and an honorary member of the Clear Spring Fire Department. He was employed as Superintendent of MD State Parks for 40 years. He attended Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport, Md. Curtis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Lucille Conway; two daughters, Bonnie Powell of Falling Waters, WV, and Linda Shank and husband Gary of Boonsboro, MD; three sons, Curtis Conway, Jr. and wife Donna of Boonsboro, MD, David Conway and wife Mindie of Smithsburg, MD, and Michael Conway and wife Howie of Boonsboro, MD; sister, Louise Preston of Dover Delaware; nine grandchildren, Chad Powell, Brett Shank, Jaime Shank Glenn, Bradley Conway, Angela Schultz, Amanda Trevey, Josh Conway, Nicholas Conway, and Ashley Conway; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, 11:00am at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate. . Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Graveside Military Honors will be presented by the Boonsboro American Legion Post 10 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, from 6pm to 8pm.
