Curtis Eugene Beard, 69, of Boonsboro, MD, went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

Born May 31, 1953, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Margaret (Burger) Beard.

Curtis retired from the State of Maryland, Division of Corrections, M.C.T.C., after 30 years of service. He was formerly with the Community Rescue Service, Civil Defense.

He was a devout Christian, loved spending time with his family and trips to Ocean City Maryland. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, First Brethren Church, and Maugansville Bible Brethren.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Beard, and two sons, Christian Beard and Jamie Beard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Janice L Penwell; father-in-law, Woodrow Penwell; son, Joshua B. Beard; and was the last of his immediate family.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown. Rev. Jerry L. Lowans will officiate.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
