Curtis Ray Baker, a cherished father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, in Inwood, WV, at the age of 49. Born on October 13, 1974, in Hagerstown, MD, Curtis was a man whose warmth and vivacity left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
Curtis's life was one of dedication and joy. Curtis embarked on a career with Brentwood Industries, where he devoted 26 years of service. His commitment to his work was evident in the strong relationships he built with his colleagues and the respect he earned within the industry.
Family was the cornerstone of Curtis's life. He is survived by a loving family who will miss him dearly: his son, CJ Baker, who was the light of his life; his father, Donald Baker, Sr.; his stepmother, Ruth Baker; his mother, Ruth Whatmore; his stepfather, Walter Whatmore, Sr.; and his siblings, Michael Ruddick, Rusty Brawner, Casey Brawner (sister-in-law), Pamela Griffith, Charlie Eichelberger, Chey Hollingsworth, Walter Whatmore, Jr., James Whatmore, and Matthew Whatmore. Curtis also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored their fun-loving uncle. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Baker, Jr.
Curtis's love for sports and the outdoors was a testament to his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Whether he was cheering on his favorite team or exploring the beauty of nature, Curtis embraced every moment with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Curtis will remember him as a man of integrity, humor, and generosity. His infectious laughter and easygoing nature made every encounter with him a joyous one. Curtis had the rare ability to light up a room and make everyone feel at ease. His presence was a comfort and his friendship a gift.
As we bid farewell to Curtis Ray Baker, we celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. His memory will continue to inspire us, and his spirit will forever be a part of the lives he touched. Curtis's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the love and memories he leaves behind will never fade.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Curtis Ray Baker will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he enriched with his compassion and joy. Rest in peace, Curtis, until we meet again.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at Minnich's Funeral Home at 415 E Wilson Blvd in Hagerstown, MD on June 22nd at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to defray funeral expense. Excess donations will be mailed to National Association for Children of Addiction, c/o Rusty Brawner, P.O. Box 683 Maugansville, MD 21767.
