Cregory "Creg" Wayne Knight, 65, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021.
Born September 1, 1955 in Hagerstown, he was the son of Joan (Holbrunner) Knight and the late Floris Knight.
Creg was a graduate of South Hagerstown High School with the class of 1973. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and was a proud Vietnam veteran. Creg came to know much of the community through his many years owning and operating Holloway's Marine, and restoring antique automobiles.
Creg loved his family deeply. He enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with friends. Creg would not pass up an opportunity to watch a thunderstorm or enjoy nature and fur friends, tame and wild. Hunting morel mushrooms and fishing trips to Chincoteague brought him peace. When he wasn't listening to his favorite music, he was playing his guitar. The 4-leaf clovers he so easily found, were kept between the pages of his Bible. He was always telling jokes and had a gift of making guests feel like family. Creg had a story for all occasions and a prayer for each meal. He was an old soul with a wild spirit and a heart of gold. Most of all, he was a great friend, loving husband, father, grandfather, and best friend to his wife.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carol Knight; two children, Dustin Knight and Kami McEntee (Fiancé, Frank Minnich); granddaughter, Marayah McEntee; sister, Carol Sowers (husband, Richard); brother, Joel Knight (wife, Pattie); mother-in-law, Louise B. Luther; sisters-in-law, Cynthia L. Hutzell and Karen R. Luther; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Creg was preceded in death by his father, and his brother-in-law, William R. Luther, Jr.
There will be a Gathering of Friends on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, from 5 to 7pm. The Celebration of Life begins at 7pm, with Rev. Randall Reid officiating, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
