Christie Lee Mitchell, 59, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 at Sterling Nursing Care. Born September 1, 1960, she was the daughter of Donald Clarence Barber and Patricia Ann (Vulgamott) Osborne. Christie graduated from Boonsboro High School in 1978. While in high school, she was employed with McDonalds. After graduation, she worked at Doubleday Book Company and the Washington County Board of Education. She was a member of Black Rock Bible Church. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Ashley Mitchell of Ranson, WV, and Brooke M. Rutherford of Hagerstown; three half-brothers, Jack E. Osborne, Jr., Dwayne Barber, and Bobbie Lee Barber; six grandchildren, Andrew West, Austin West, Ashtin Hoover, Isaiah Mitchell, Dylan Rutherford, and Caleb Billmann of Canada; one special aunt and uncle, Wilma and Charles Costlow; four cousins; one niece and one nephew. Christie was preceded in death by her stepfather, Jack E. Osborne. The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 with Pastor Guy Nesbitt officiating, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 6 to 8pm. In addition to flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Black Rock Bible Church, for the new addition, at 9646 Crystal Falls Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
