Cheryl "Sherry" Anita
Stoneberger
Dec 12, 1949 — Apr 14, 2025
Cheryl "Sherry" Anita (Forsythe) Stoneberger, 75, of Sharpsburg, MD, went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Born December 12, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Cyriel and Anna (Baker) Forsythe.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Jack Stoneberger, of 29 years; (step)daughter, Tracy Gentile (Arthur); sisters, Ellen Fahey (Tom), Lora Forsythe, and Ann Forsythe-Crist (Scott); brother, Allyn Forsythe (Tina); and nieces and nephews.
Cheryl loved to read and study the Bible and spent time extensively researching specific biblical topics. She was a faithful Christian from the age of five, passionately sharing the gospel with all who would listen. She attended Bob Jones University and was a member of Grace Brethren Church for over 30 years. Most recently, she attended and taught Bible study at the Hagerstown First Church of God.
In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved nephew, Josh Forsythe. Her relationship with Josh grew lovingly and spiritually especially after his diagnosis of Ewings Sarcoma. Josh beat Cheryl to heaven and we know he was there to welcome her into their eternal home.
Cheryl had a special gift for connecting with children. In addition to her nieces and nephews, she was like a grandmother to George Giesea and loved him dearly. She treasured time with him spent sharing her faith, playing games, and making popcorn. She always looked forward to his visits.
Cheryl was a loving, faithful and caring wife to Jack, a second Mom to Tracy and a cherished sister to her family. She was Jack's 'Sweetie' and will be deeply missed.
Cheryl graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1967 and kept in close contact with her high school friends over the years. She retired from Antietam Cable after working in customer service and accounting. Cheryl enjoyed flea markets and collecting various things including vintage glassware and jewelry.
The funeral will be held at 12pm on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor David Sword will officiate assisted by Reverend Brad Graybill.
