Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Edward Mulligan Jr., 85, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. He was born on August 8, 1936 to the late Charles E. Mulligan Sr. and Beulah Tracy-Mulligan. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the 608th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron at Paengnyongdo, South Korea, and Stead Air Force Base, Nevada, as a radar and communications specialist. After leaving military service he was self-employed as a television repair tech, and then became a printer operator at Doubleday Publishing in Hagerstown. He then joined Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, as a Material Handler, until his retirement in 1991. Throughout his life he enjoyed electronics, photography, metal detecting and amateur radio, his call sign being N3MVR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donnie "B-Sue" Mulligan, with whom he had been married for 61 years, his brother, George Mulligan, and his sister, Betty Sharer. Charlie is survived by his sons, Roger Mulligan and his wife, Robin, Lance Mulligan, and John Mulligan, his grandchildren, Matthew Mulligan, Charly Mulligan, and Laura Mulligan, his great-grandchildren, Jaidyn Mulligan and Katelyn Culler, his great-great-grandson, Daxton Wiley, his sister, Bessie Caldwell, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Charlie's name to the American Federation for the Blind, 1401 S. Clark St., Ste. 730, Arlington, VA 22202 A memorial visitation will be held in Charlie's honor at a later date. Please check back for the date and time of the visitation.
