Charles Lee Moats, Sr., 83, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on February 9, 2026, at Creekside Nursing Home.

Born on November 4, 1942, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Raymond Ray Moats and Edith Louise (Shafer) Moats. Charles spent his entire working life in construction, a field that reflected his strong work ethic.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Orpha May Moats. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his son, John Miller; his grandson, John Smith; and several brothers and sisters.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Melissa Smith; his son, Charles Moats, Jr.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Denny Moats and Bill Moats; and one sister, Beverly Smith.

Services will be private.
