CHARLES EDWARD "REBEL" "PONEY" GORDON, 82, of Clear Spring, Maryland, died on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at his home. Born May 28, 1927 in Clay Hill, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Melvin and Nettie Kaetzel Gordon. He served in the U. S. Navy on the USS Corduba. He was employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad, Bester & Long, and Smith's Trucking Company. He was a member of Fairview Wesleyan United Methodist Church since 1985. He was a member of Teamsters #991, and the American Legion, Greencastle, PA. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Commer Gordon who was born in Charleston, West Virginia; two sisters, Helen Carpenter, and Fannie Rouzer, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Glen Gordon of Cearfoss, and George Gordon of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lou Troia; one sister, Hazel Bitner; and one brother, Ray Gordon. Funeral services will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown on Friday at 1:00 p. m. Pastor Robert Luther will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p. m.
