Obituary

Charles William Embly, Sr., 93, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Doey's House.

Born April 27, 1930 in Sykesville, MD, he was the son of the late Leonard and Dolly Embly.

Charles served in the US Army. He worked for Fairchild, Miller Lumber Co., and Danzer Metals.

He was an avid camper and enjoyed get-togethers with family.

Charles is survived by his wife, Helen Embly; one daughter, Joan O'Brien and husband, Kevin; one son, Charles Embly, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Brenda Embly; former daughter-in-law, Melita Wishard; seven grandchildren, Curtis Neikirk, Paul Neikirk, Michael Neikirk, Matthew Neikirk, Crystal Cavinder, Audra Embly, and Holly Embly; 11 great-grandchildren, Bradley Myers, Casey Myers, Leland Neikirk, Adam Sheets, Nicholas Neikirk, Mikaila Neikirk, Kayden Neikirk, Kinslee Neikirk, Justin Brown, Scott Brown, Jr., and Randy Brown; and five great-great-grandchildren, Brantley, Mia, Haevyn, and Bindi Myers and Olivia Brown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steven Embly; one sister, Betty Starliper; and four brothers, Leonard Embly, Joseph Embly, Robert Embly, and Richard Embly.

The funeral will be held at 11am on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, with Pastor Bill Divelbiss officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
