Charles Hunter Eichelberger, 93, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022.

Born January 21, 1929 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Garrett R. and Helen W. (Ross) Eichelberger.

Charles served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He retired from Pangborn Corporation with over 50 years of service.

Charles was former president of the Democratic Central Committee and was also a member of the Elks Club, Funkstown American Legion Post 211, and the Higher Ground Ministries. He was an avid hunter and a member of The National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Eichelberger; two sons, Ronald Eichelberger and Brian Eichelberger (wife, Malia); four grandchildren, Joy, Zachary, Chad, and Cal; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia Weddle and Delores Jackson.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Wallizer and Ruth Moore; two brothers, Kenneth Eichelberger and Danny Eichelberger; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Eichelberger.

Private graveside services will be at the convenience of the family. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Hoffman's Grill, 18203 Mason Dixon Rd., Hagerstown, MD on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 2:30 to 4:30 PM.
