CHARLES (CHUCK) HARRY ROANE, aka "Crab Man", 50, of Williamsport, MD was born October 7, 1963 in Hagerstown, MD, son of Thomas A. Roane and the late Dorlene S. Styles. God called him home on January 6, 2014. Chuck lived in Charlestown, WV, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1982. Chuck was employed for over 20 years at Pro-Fabricators in Smithsburg, MD, working as a laser operator. Chuck enlisted in the US Navy, serving active duty from 1982 to 1985 on the USS LaSalle and the USS Portland, based in Norfolk, VA. Chuck achieved the position of Master Mason, a member of Masonic Lodge #217, in Hagerstown, MD. Chuck was an avid crab fisherman at the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. He is survived by his father, Thomas A. Roane, Sr of Hagerstown, MD; a very special friend and companion, Lori of VA.; brother Terry R. Roane and wife Debbie of Smithsburg, MD; sister Deborah S. Young and husband Chris of Williamsport, MD; sister Tina A. Harbaugh and husband Greg of Clear Spring, MD; brother Douglas L. Roane of Tunnelton, WV. He is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews. In addition to his mother, Chuck was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas A. Roane Jr. and Arden E. Roane; maternal grandparents Charles and Ethel Shantz; fraternal grandparents, Arden and Marion Roane. The family wishes to express our deepest and sincerest gratitude to Hospice of Washington County. With quality care provided by the dedicated and professional nurses who tended to Chuck's needs, his end of life journey was one of great care, dignity, love, comfort and respect. The family also extends a special thank you to everyone who donated money, time, concern, support, care and love during the past months. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, MD Thursday, January 9 from 6-8pm, with a Masonic Service at 7pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 10 at 1:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home. Bill Divelbiss will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
