Charles Edward Calandrelle, age 94, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at his home—the same house he was born in.

Born May 26, 1932, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Mario and Josephine (Ferrara) Calandrelle.

Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Gladys Irene Calandrelle, who passed away on March 19, 2010.

A 1951 graduate of Hagerstown High School, Charles proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. Following his military service, he worked as a Teamster Union truck driver for 32 years before retiring.

Charles was raised Catholic and became a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was also a life member of the Improved Order of Red Man Tribe 84, Goodwill Athletic Club, American Legion Post #211, AMVETS Post 10, North American Rod and Gun Club, and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club. He was also one of the four founders of Lonesome Pine Lodge in Flintstone, MD.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Charles M. Calandrelle and wife, Debbie; daughter-in-law, Jamie Calandrelle; two grandchildren, Andrew Calandrelle (Amanda), and Amy Calandrelle (Evan); two sisters, Margaret “Sue” Munson and Judy Semler; and one brother, John Calandrelle.

In addition to his wife and parents, Charles was preceded in death by his son, Michael E. Calandrelle; Debbie’s son, Grant; two sisters, Louise Lushbaugh and Mary Virginia Railing; and three brothers, Anthony “Tony” Calandrelle, Mario Calandrelle, Jr., and Robert Calandrelle.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Father Jeremy Smith will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
