Charles Richard Bender, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Born December 23, 1934 in Mountville, PA, he was the son of the late Maurice and Bertha (Gamble) Bender. Charles served in the U.S. Air Force. He provided sales and repair services to the Amish. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Boonsboro and the V.F.W. in Funkstown. Charles is survived by his wife, Winona Jane Bender, of 39 years; five children; five sisters; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one daughter. The funeral service will be held 1pm Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Victory Baptist Church, 8014 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713. Pastors Aaron Hartman and William Gunter will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Graveside military honors provided by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.
