Charles "Charlie" Allen Smith, 76 of Hagerstown, died on Tuesday November 20,2018. Born January 1, 1942 in Boonsboro. He was the son of the late Earl Edward and Marie June (Dagenhart) Smith. Charlie served his country proudly in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1966. He retired from the State of Maryland in 2004 as a prison guard after 20 years at MCI. He also attended Faith Christian Fellowship, in Williamsport MD. In addition to his parents, Charlie was also preceded in death by his loving wife Maude Sharon "Seet" (Brown) Smith, who died in 2016, and his sister Genevieve "Genny" Kotun who died in 2017. He is survived by three brothers, Earl Edward Smith Jr of Chandler AZ, Donald Lee Smith of Funkstown MD, and Gregory Lynn Smith of Greencastle PA; three sons, Dwane Edward Smith and wife Shilo of Berkeley Springs WV, Jason Shane Smith and wife Missy of Hagerstown MD, and Chad Allen Smith and wife Debra of Martinsburg WV; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held for Charlie on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Mary Ann Churchey will officiate. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
