Chandler "Chan" Michael Hovanec, 26, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023. He was born on March 4, 1997, in Cumberland, MD.
Chan enjoyed listening to all genres of music and cooking - including experimenting with all his spices. He loved spending time with his friends and family every chance he could, and he had a very big heart with the funniest sense of humor. Chan had a kind and gentle soul and would do anything in the world, for anyone. 'Fly high son, you are already loved and missed so greatly!'
Chandler was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandmother, Rachel V. Guessford, his maternal great-grandmother, Betty L. Smoot Wright, maternal grandparents, Roy E. Guessford Sr., and Caroyln J. Guessford Upperman, his half-brother, Jason M. Hovanec, his uncles, Andrew L. Hovanec and Roy E. Guessford Jr., his cousin, Stephanie Guessford, and several other beloved cousins, great-aunts, and great-uncles.
He is survived by his parents, John M. Hovanec and Kimberly S. Hovanec, his half-sister, Shanna R. Hovanec, his paternal grandfather, Andrew L. Hovanec, his maternal grandmother, Dorothy McMillen, his aunts and uncles, Tom and Renee Hovanec, James and Veronica Hovanec, Ricky and Maryann Manery, Richard and Robin Miller, Rodney and Michelle Guessford, Suzanne Hovanec, and Jackie Guessford, his cousins who he loved like siblings and grew up with, Ashley and Aaron Miller, his best friends, Cody Kane and Abby and David and Morgan Garza, and many, many, other close cousins, aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Family and friends are welcomed for memorial visitation on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 4:00pm -5:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown, MD.
A memorial service will begin at 5:00pm immediately following the memorial visitation at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Stottlemyer will officiate.
No graveside services will be held at this time.
