CATHERINE ARDELLE ZAHN, 100, formerly of Preston Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, died Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Ravenwood Lutheran Village. Born August 9, 1904 in Ellicott City, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Frank S. and Maude E. Stewart Bowman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Zahn, Jr. in 1999. She graduate in 1922 from high school in Hagerstown. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Z. Groo of Potomac Falls, Virginia; one sister, Frances Bowman of Hagerstown, Maryland; two granddaughters, Diana L. Thornburgh of Purcellville, Virginia and Joanna M. Smith of Salem, Virginia; three great grandchildren; one niece and four nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Starkey and Hilda Rae Bowman; two brothers, Stewart Bowman and Frank Bowman; one granddaughter, Laura B. Groo. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Maryland. The Rev. Robert N. Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
