Obituary

CATHERINE AMELIA LYNN, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Monday, July 21, 2008 at her home. Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Tryon and Anna L. Rice Bragunier. She graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1937; Washington County Hospital in 1940; Junior (Hagerstown) College in 1963; University of Maryland in 1968; University of Maryland with a Masters Degree in 1974; and a Dermatology Degree from Mayo Clinic in 1976. She retired from the Veterans Administration in Martinsburg, West Virginia in 1979. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Washington County Nurses Association, and the University of Maryland Nurses Association. She received the award for "Best All Around Girl" in 1937 by the American Legion; and the "Best All Around Nurse" award in 1940 by the Medical Society. She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne B. Lynn of Winchester, Virginia; one sister, Louise Easterday of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister, Julia Shockey; and two brothers, Thomas Bragunier and Miller Bragunier. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a. m. at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Dean Pryor will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
