CATHERINE MARGARET "KAY" BAKER, 89, of Williamsport, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Homewood Health Care Center in Williamsport, Maryland. Kay Baker was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 12, 1921, and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She married Harrison Baker on March 1, 1943. She accompanied her husband throughout his career, and lived in many states, including Alaska and the countries of The Philippines and Bolivia, South America. Kay was a devoted wife and mother. She was active in politics while living in Alaska, enjoyed performing in community theaters, and was an avid golfer. The Bakers retired in Prescott, Arizona in 1977. Here Kay enjoyed many years being a docent at the Shallot Hall Museum. In 2003, they moved to Homewood Retirement Community in Williamsport, Maryland. Surviving with her husband are four sons: Paul and his wife, Kaleen, from Winchester, Virginia, Alan and his wife, Diane, from Portland, Oregon, Craig and his wife, Susan, from Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kurt and his wife, Kim, from Portland, Oregon; and nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Homewood Retirement Community Chapel on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:30 p. m. Pastor Jeff Shull will officiate. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
