CARL EDWARD MOATS, 66, of 532 Summit Avenue, died December 30, 2010 at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Born November 10, 1944 in Hagerstown, he was the son of Dorothy Moats Stottlemyer and step-son of Kenneth Stottlemyer. He was a member of the First Brethren Church, Hagerstown and a graduate of SHHS. He served two years in the Marine Corps and was awarded the Purple Heart in Vietnam. He is survived by his mother and step-father; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a close personal friend, Karen Hart of Hagerstown. There will be no public viewing. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pastor Herman Fisler will officiate. Omission of flowers is requested.
